06/21/2008: "The Festival of Giamonios - End of Winter"
mood: Peaceful
This year, we have adopted the Gaulish calendar as reconstructed by Professor Garrett Olmsted as the basis for our ritual year.
With the ritual calendar beginning with the month of Samonios near the winter solstice, our end of winter celebration is
on the Summer solstice here in the northern hemisphere.
The weather has been beautiful. The dawn broke today to witness our fires here in Pensacola as we celebrated the beginning of a season of action and energy! With the passing of giamos into samos, we celebrated the divine wedding of Maponos to the Flower Maiden, the youthful manifestation of the land goddess and recognized the banishing of Cernunnos into the world of the forests.
The longest day of the year came to an end and, with the dusk, we gave thanks to Lugus for his work benefiting our community and to Brigindu for her energy and stength that allowed him to accomplish it!
