Erynn Laurie bemoans CR e-list trends and "academic wankers"

music: I'm turning Japanese - The Vapors
mood: Amused

shocked Erynn Rowan Laurie, one of the self professed creators of Celtic Reconstruction as an "ism", bemoaned the latest trends in Internet E-list CR discussions and likened the public's view of CR followers as "academic wankers".

"The other thing I've seen an awful lot of lately, not just here but on some of the other lists, has been the degeneration of CR discussion into pure linguistics," complains Laurie in a recent thread about list silence on Nemeton. "It's no wonder people think we're all a bunch of purely academic wankers, if that's all they see."

Laurie has evidently been feeling the on-line heat as of late. What she calls a "degeneration"

Deiuokara

music: Shine - Collective Soul
mood: Pumped

Deiuokara is a proto-Celtic construction of a word meaning "reverence of the divine". It was originally a word coined for possible use by the Imbas organization back in late 1999 to describe their path. During the following elections, Deiuokara lost out to Senistrognata ("Ancestral Customs") and became forgotten in the back waters of IMBAS-public list history.

Since it was discarded, we picked it up. It is a great word to describe our path; so much so, we have decided to highlight it as our new website domain name. Our new site design is a work in progress and will be updated over the next few months as our schedules permit.

08/02/2006: "Lughnasa 2006"

music: Hot Fun in the Summertime - Sly and the Family Stone
mood: Thankful

Our community enjoyed the celebration of Lughnasa yesterday here in Pensacola with a small feast and ritual offering thanks for the fruits of the harvest and Lugh's successful intercession with the land Goddess in the groups's behalf.

In the afternoon, we were blessed and cooled with an afternoon thunderstorm, a good omen on our day of celebration.

07/25/2006: "Beliefnet.com Thread on CR FAQ Exposes Non-Celtic Neo-Pagan Agenda"

music: It's Only Make Believe - Conway Twitty
mood: Hopeful

Beliefnet.com's Celtic Religion forum is the latest of several fora to expose the inconsistencies and disrespect the CR FAQ shows living Celtic cultural spirituality. It was a pleasure to read the thoughts of someone so in tune with the living cultures explaining the weaknesses of the CR movement as presented in the CR FAQ.

The proponent of living Celtic cultural spirituality for this thread is
